Default Supercharger question

I didn't see a supercharger section, so pls forgive me if this is the wrong section.

Question: Why are centrifugal superchargers less expensive than Roots or Twin-Screw?

Thanks,

Chris

I never found that they were, maybe you are looking at a non-IC setup. When I got my Saleen it was actually cheaper then if I went with a intercooled paxton setup at least from Brenspeed where I had it installed.

There is a site that has some crazy good pricing on superchargers that I may be getting mine from when I get the $$$..

http://www.superchargersonline.com/

You can email them a quote request. I was amazed at their price for the Tuner Kit version of the Edelbrock S/C as well as the Tuner Kit for the Paxton 2200SL.

I've seen that site...they quoted $3824 for a Vortech(non-intercooled). It so much cheaper than a Kenne-Bell or a Saleen setup.

IMHO, you will have less trouble from a twin screw. Centri's sometimes make excessive pulley noises, have air intake tubes seperate, and require frequent internal oil changes. Centri's also don't have an instant boost of power and normally kick in about 3,000 RPM. Some prefer that, I of course don't. TS are more expensive to manufacturer as well.

3k rpm? mine kicks in right about 2,300

the non-intercooled " tuner" kits is just the supercharger head unit and the hoses for the Bypass valve, not too terribly difficult to install. Its a great sized blower, looks liks a big turbo.. hefty bastard as well. The weight surprised me. Save for the intercooled kit imo.. when timing gets pulled (gets too hot) you have a nice engine weight making zilch for power..
