2005 GT Clutch Problem... Pedal Moves, But Clutch Doesn't Engage
Alright, last night I was coming up Highway 49 here in Gulfport, MS, and decided to play a little. Open roads, no traffic, dry weather. So i pushed it to 5,800 RPM in third gear, shifted to fourth and released the clutch.
Now when I let off, I heard a ping like something metal had popped off in the engine compartment. My clutch pedal stuck to the floor. The clutch was engaged still so I coasted to a stop in a parking lot.
After stopping, I pumped the pedal a few times and it eventually returned to the normal position, however now when I press it, it makes a faint clicking sound and the clutch will not engage. So I can't put it into gear.
Any ideas?
I checked the pedal itself and everything looked fine... But I am lost when it comes to this whole hydraulic system...

hard to say for sure, but i'm leaning towards the slave cylinder. it's possible that you might be able to look up into the peep hole at the bottom of the transmission while someone slowly pumps the clutch pedal. you might be able to verify if the slave throwout bearing, is moving at all.

My question is, why are you only pushing it to 5800K? The stock rev limiter is set at 6250 and I've bounced off 6500K on quite a few occasions.
Whereabouts in MS are you? I just relocated to Vicksburg (temporary assignment for 1-2 years).

Honestly? Scared to tear it up LOL i don't like to push her too much unless need be. Ive accidentally hit the rev limiter a few times at 6250 but have never seen it go past that.
Is there a way to remove the rev limiter? I have a tuner (fairly nice I think) and thought I saw someway to do that through it. maybe I'm wrong.
I'm down in Biloxi/Gulfport area. I frequent Jackson, Vicksburg, Meridian, Starkville A LOT (2-3 times a week). So keep your eyes peeled for the Harrison County tag NERDSGT!

I know that my SCT2 allows me to adjust the rev limiter but not sure about the others although I'd bet they do. Brenspeed set mine at 6800 when I bought my tunes but I reset it to 6500. At 5800 RPM, you're not pushing it. My Stang still pulls strong thru 6200.
I'll keep my eyes peeled but my Stang isn't my DD. I drive up Rt. 61 from Grand Gulf (Port Gibson) to Vicksburg daily in a dark red Toyota 4Runner. My GT is alloy (NUKE on the plates) and the g/f's Pony is Legend Lime (NUKED on the plates). You can't miss us...
