I have no problem doing it myself...aside from the fact that the instructions state you need to lift the car and access some bolts underneath.
I don't have ramps or a good enough jack...
Huh? There's a good enough jack in your trunk. It doesn't need to be 6 feet in the air, just enough for you to get in there. Use a jackstand. They're like $10 a pair at your local auto parts store.
Make sure you have jack stands. I paid about $40 for my pair. I know some one who got killed not using them when the jack failed. Seriously! Those black plastic ramps from the local auto parts store worked great for me.
A word of caution the new 2010 version shifter from mgw requires you drop the tranny down slightly to install it. My mgw was installed at Tillman speed. The previous version shifter didn't require the tranny to be dropped.

Yep. I had to do this. Best method is
1) completely remove one of the tranny cross member bolts so you can see how long the bolts are.
2) put that removed bolt back in, but only turn it about 4-5 times
3) loosen the other 3 bolts the same amount as the one that's only in there by 4-5 threads
Then you've got the tranny lowered as much as its going to go without the cross member falling out.
