Year long supercharger bogging issue SOLVED
#12
I read your opening post hoping I might find a glimmer of hope to fix my issue. But, no. I have not went through the lengths you have yet because it hasnt been too big of a deal. Just a nuisance.
For the last 2 years, my car will stall sporadically with no common ground as to when. It will ALWAYS start right back up. At first it seemed to do it only when getting low on gas, 1/4 or less. So we kept it filled up. Last year it started becoming more frequent and with slightly higher tank levels. Finally last month, I started datalogging using the Predator. Wife and I took off, and got only about 2 miles from the house before it stalled. Predator showed only 6-9psi. Problem found: bad fuel pump. Towed it back to the house and ordered the GT500 pump set-up.
I thought, cool! Problem solved. Not so fast there, bub! Like before, the car will stumble occassionally while driving down the road. If engine speed is low, like idle or, less than say 1500rpm, the engine will stall. And, like before, start right back up. Fuel pressure does not drop when this happens. I have a data logger for my shop that I have used in customer cars, but it does not log enough info, like the Predator, to find the source of my headache. My only hope at this point is giving the most recent datalog in the Predator to Procharger. They have a guy there who can decipher it pretty well I guess. I dont see a damn thing in there to point me in the right direction. So, I am doubtful he will either.

Arise from thy grave, ye ole thread!
I'm going to order this kit from BBR since my car has been having these exact same symptoms as described by the original poster ages ago. Stuttering when cold, hesitation, super lean readings when taking off.
I'll let you guys know if it solves these problems for me too.

Update:
The breathers arrived, and I managed to test them out. Had to get a pair of 3/8, and 5/8 vacuum plugs, since it wasn't included in the BBR "kit" (for the price, it should have. You can find these breathers at Pepboys for $10 each).
It solved the bogging issues for me as well. I'm so glad I can finally put this problem to rest, since I was starting to lose my head about it too. Cleaning throttle bodies, MAFs, sparks, all did nothing. This did it. Although the symptoms all pointed to a vacuum leak, I never thought of checking the PCV system.
I don't know if you're still around these forums, but to the original poster, thanks for the writeup.

Look's like I'm going to bring this old thread back to life once again, but I think it's better to do this than to litter the internet with new threads on the same topic.
This is the only thread I have found that seems to be the same as my issue. I've been ripping my hair out for an entire year now. I doubt the OP will reply, but to anyone that sees this, won't having half of the PCV system cause additional problems? I read what he said about it still functioning the same, air going in passenger side and out driver side, but like he said, he still has a vacuum leak. Will that not continue to cause problems?
Either way, it's a cheap attempt at a fix and completely reversible if unsuccessful, I'll go for it.
