went to the track finally
I have an 06 GT 5 spd with an intake and tune. ran in the eighth mile last night. I ran a best of 9.272 with a 60 foot of 2.24. I was kinda disappointed, I thought I would hit 8 at least. Traction was an issue, but I am still running the stock tire size of 235. Am I just expecting too much?

ditto on the track prep. If you run on most test and tune days it's not gonna be as good as the competition days, at least for us it's like that. I seen a CAI/tune GT that's supposed to run low 13s run mid 15s all evening once.. burning up the tires at the light and all.. kinda felt bad for the fella lulz

haha, yeah, I'm sure. well I watched him run a couple times, and he was spinning and wheel hopping pretty badly. my best run of 9.2 i almost took off like I do with normal driving, and then punched it. That was what got me my best time of the night instead of launching hard. He did have 275s on the rear though, which would make me think he would have been able to hook up better, but it was his first time taking the car to the track. As soon as my wedding gets paid for I'm gettin some new shoes for the stang. haha

on a track that is poorly prepped and slightly uphill (people run 1-2 tenths slower there than other 1/8 mile tracks) when i just an axle back exhaust i ran a 8.94 with a 2.14 60' on the stock 235s. get your 60' down and it will help a lot. for me its been best for me to have the tires around 25 psi and launch at about 2500-3000. and when you launch, dont just drop the clutch, but let it out by pulling your foot back like you stepped in dog poop. dont do a burnout. dont drive through the water pit.
i would think you should beat my 8.94 time due to a probably better track, and you having more hp. and if you are on 17s your wheels either weigh the same as mine (28lbs) or lighter (22lbs). If you have the lighter 17s, that will help some too.
