When turning sharply under 20 mph, i get a little howling noise coming from the rear end. What could cause this? I took it by Ford and they said that maybe it has something to do with the gears I had installed. I had 3.90s installed and they whine and have from the time they were put in, but it didnt make noise turning like this until recently. What could cause it?

Sounds as if the shop that did the install didn't add the required friction modifier. Also, a proper install shouldn't whine, either.

just called the shop and he said he added the friction modifier. and he said "ive had so many posi-traction rear ends that make noises around corners i almost consider it normal".

honestly this shop didnt do a good job with the install. he set the backlash too tight at .005" and you might be able to get away with that with FRPP gears, but not motive. and since it was driven like that, now they whine and i guess now they make noise around turns... oh well, guess ill live with it til i can afford 3.73 FRPP and ill take it to a diff shop
