Thumbs up CMCV installation, my personal experience!

I purchased a pristine set of CMCV deletes out of the forum for $60 shipped and installed them this morning. This is DEFINITELY a DIY project using Taco Bill's instructional pictoral.

My skepticism grew as I read certain threads claiming low end loss after the install so I communicated with Chris Rose @ American Muscle and his EXTREMELY informative reply convinced me to pursue the install. Thanks Chris for taking the time to reply to my questions!!!!!

As mentioned, the install was cake. I have 3 CMCV delete tunes from American Muscle since I have the tunes for life benefit.

1. 93Street 2. 93Performance 3. 93Race

After loading up the 93street tune, since most of my driving is in town whenever I do drive the car, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! I would almost swear I GAINED bottom end response. The exhaust note changed a bit too. Deeper tone and smoother idle if I may say so, albeit miniscual. I notice instant acceleration in stop and go traffic and this thing hauls the mail when stomped!

Overall, I'm SO glad I did the install and talking to Chris sure enlightened me as well. If you haven't done the CMCV delete install...............do it!

My $0.02

Interesting. I wonder if your longtubes were the difference between the positive and negative reviews.

Three hours but I'm EXTREMELY **** and I wipe everything down. I even polished the inside of the Delete plates to a mirror finish.

I did UDP's last week but removed them. That's not a hard mod at all either. Taco Bill has a DIY instructional pictoral for that too. Just MAKE SURE you use the Chrysler Puller to remove your Harmonic balancer AND rent the Harmonic Balancer Installer kit too. This installer protects your crankshaft threads while it pulls your dampner onto the crankshaft. A MUST IMO>.....

The only "negative" I was concerned about was the car becoming a pig on the bottom after some of the threads I read. I like a "torquey" feeling and didn't want to compromise nor sacrifice the bottom cuz I don't take my car to 6k anyways.

Good point. I've had my LT's on for about 2.5 weeks without the Delete plates, but I can't verify this as being a contributing factor, maybe somebody like Chris Rose or any other tuner can chime in. The LT's were a DEFINITE plus to my modding thus far.

Glad to see that I am not the only one that found this one to be a worthwhile mod..

I did mine right before the Vortech and I was very happy with the results. It actually gave more of a "surge" then the vortech lulz of course it didn't match the all out power of the blower, but still worth the mod

I find it to be a great modification. Besides the fact that it cleans the calibration up behind the scenes, and we can combine tables to make things operate easier... you pick up RWHP/RWTQ and gas mileage, etc.

I feel that it makes the whole powerband smoother and stronger. Overall, I don't see any reason not to give this modification a shot. People are very worried about losing low-end power, when that's not necessarily the case.

I'm glad that you had luck with it! Thanks for the great review!

Old post I know but, after the install and udate tune (from Bama) I now have cold start issues.
First start of the day or if the car has cooled it will rev to 25k then drop to 2k then slowly drop to normal.
Any seen this and do you know a fix.
Called Bama and was told just the was it is. This can't be true. Help please.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, that is normal.

The easiest way to get rid of it is to let the car run for 10-15seconds at the 2500RPM and then just blip the throttle(a light blip should do, no need to redline). With that, it should rev down further in the RPM band(normally under 12-1500RPM and stay there until it actually gets to operating temperature and the RPM drops to completely normal.

This occurs because without the charge-motion plates controlling the air into the combustion chamber, the air rushes into the cylinder more easily. This rush of air, coupled with the oil/coolant not being up to temperature will cause the PCM to keep the idle a little higher. Simply blipping the throttle a little after 10-15seconds of the high-idle should help alleviate it somewhat.

If you would like to have our tuning specialists datalog your cold-starts to see if any adjustments can be made, we can certainly do that for you. If you would like to do this, please email them directly at bama@americanmuscle.com for the datalogging instructions and PIDs(parameters) that you should be datalogging for. If adjustments need/can be made to improve the cold-start idle, our tuning specialists will be able to see this.

I hope this helps and I apologize for any inconvenience. Please let me know if I may be of assistance in the future!

I just did both the delete plates and UDP install over thanksgiving. Above 3k rpm I can tell a difference in a good way. Although it feels as if I lost some torque in the low end, feels a bit sluggish compared to before. Thought it could be a tune issue and ordered new bama tunes. It is now a little better but still not the same on the low end. It's an Automatic and im still running stock gears. So I'm thinking this is the next mod on the list.
