Help with Supercharger for high altitude
I know this is a well discussed subject and I have spent the last couple of weeks reading over other posts. Unfortunately, the more I have read the more confused I have become on which SC to go with. I have an 06 GT that mechanically is stock. My reasoning for adding the SC is that I live at 6400 ft and the altitude kills my cars performance. At sea level I would probably be pretty happy with the NA engine but driving here I always feel like I’m towing a trailer. I doubt I will spend much time at the track and am looking for 0-60 performance over ¼ mile times. I want to retain a good DD and not risk damaging my engine. I have been looking at the Vortech V3 package from Brenspeed. The price is right and it looks like I can do some upgrades if my needs change. I was also planning to re-gear to some 3:73’s or possibly 4:10‘s. I would appreciate any suggestions, advice or reviews from anybody.
Thank you all!!!
Thank you all!!!

I know what you mean, my house sits at 6700' here in Evergreen. If your car is stock, you'd probably be surprised at what a set of 4.10 gears and an intake/tune will do for you, if you want to not spend thousands. Also, an aluminum driveshaft makes a nice addition/gain. Those 4 things would make your car way better power-wise, even up here.
I ran that Brenspeed V3 kit on my 2009 GT that I sold several months ago. Its a good kit for the money, but IMO upgrading it later makes it not such a good deal. You be better off with a twin screw or roots blower if you are going to part with 5+ grand. Don't forget possible supporting mods too, like stickier tires, gauges, possible suspension work, etc. I doubt most people get away with supercharging for much less than $6000 in the end, and I'm willing to bet the average is more like 8-9 when the dust clears.
As far as risk to the engine, that is inevitable with any blower. The lower the power output, the better your odds generally speaking, but we've seen people blow stock motors on 400 rwhp setups. Keep in mind the Vortech focuses on high-end power. If you are interested in 0-60 performance, that is not the right setup for you.
Based on what you've told us, I'd recommend the Roush M90:

...or the basic Saleen package:
http://www.brenspeed.com/saleenstage1.html
Both of these systems will provide instant boost pretty much, and will be great for your 0-60 desires.
