Default Trans Slipping

Ok so yesterday i put my car in reverse to back into my drive way. (I was at a complete stop.) I step on the gas and all of a sudden the tach goes up to about 2k i let off the gas and then reverse engaged chirping the tires. Today I was taking the wife to school and everything seemed fine until i got to a stop sign. I went to take off and the Tach started to rise again so i took my foot off the gas and as soon as i did first engaged chirped the tires and she went all the shifts after that seemed fine? The car is an 06 GT with 33k on it. Calling the dealership in a min. to have them take a look at it. Anyone have the same issues with there car? and if so did you have to replace or rebuild the tranny?

your mustang, doesnt have enough miles on it for a tranny rebuild, or a new clutch, but i dont know how you drive your stang. do you drive it hard? alot of burnouts? etc. i had to replace my clutch at roughly 40k.

I had Nitrous on it but only ran a 75 shot with a tune for it and that was 2 years ago as well as a hand full of passes at the track 2 years ago. After that I only get on her once in a great while on the freeway. I did get a set of 20" rims staggered at the beginning of this summer and adjusted for them with my tuner. Never did any burn outs with the 20" on. Yesterday i returned my car to bone stock. Stock rims, air box, removed the nitrous kit and Tuned back to factory. Still the same results. I am thinking it is the clutch. I think it's not engaging properly. After I returned it to stock I took it for a little ride and when I came to a stop I could feel it slipping into neutral. I had to put it in park then back to drive for it to reengage. I called the dealership but they cant get me in till next Wed.

lol im no transmission guy but manuals have clutches and automatics have torque converters now if you want to get technical automatics do have clutches in the internals of the trans but if those are burnt up then you are gunna need a complete rebuild but with 33K on your car that shouldnt be the problem

Ok took her to the dealership yesterday and so far they cant seem to duplicate the problem? It is not throwing any codes and they are clueless so far. All they said today is we let it sit over night to let it get cold and we are going to try again in a bit?

Well got my car back finally! They claim they just made a few adjustments to the transmission.? Who knows but she it running normal again, so that's a good thing. They did say that they are going to leave the work order open just in case it happens again, this way my mileage is locked in at 34k.

Automatics don't have clutches in the traditional sense but they do have clutch packs that can become worn over time or with excessive power. I completely destroyed multiple clutch packs in the stock auto transmission running my current setup (minus the build tranny obviously).

If you've done a lot of heavy driving in those 33k miles, especially WOT pulls from 40-60 mph (aka highway roll races) I would definitely consider this as a possible problem.
