FORD MOTORSPORTS INTAKE
#21
dont fear the gear! With cams and a intake designed to make its power up top, consider the 4.10s. There not as big bad and scary as there made out to be. Many of us run them here, plenty even daily drive them.

To get the most out of that intake a set of customer cam shafts will be in order. Once you decide on gear choice all you have to do is call comp cams tell them what you have and they can tell what cams will be best for your application.

RUNS GREAT NOW
put the 3.37 gears in it
the wrote me a new program..downloaded that
its awsome...oh by the way. i fixed the secondary air intake problem too. loose clamp at throttle body sucking lots of air into engine after mass airflow. biggg. problem...we all can make mistakes!! it really runs good with this combo
comp cams and springs
shorty headers
muffler elimation
bbk throttle body
k n air intake
ford racing intake
programing
3.73 gears

That loss of low end torque is definately dissappointing, but re-learning how to drive the car makes the top end A LOT more fun. With the mods (heads in particular) in my sig, I lost over 50 ft-lbs of torque down low. There is a big dead/flat spot in the torque curve between 2000-2300, but the power curve climbs all the way to redline without peaking over. I've learned to just keep it wound a little higher and it runs incredible. 5th gear is virtually useless, but 4th gear keeps highway driving............spirited. I'm still on the fence about gears. As long as I keep it wound a litlte higher, I don't feel like I need the lower gears, but it would be nice to use 5th below 75mph.

personally i like to have some low end. breathegood you have IMRC deletes, cams, heads, and headers, all things i dont have, and are only making 22whp and 3wtq more than me, and youre still on stock gears which would make more power than my 3.90s... and I'm sure my torque curve is much more dd friendly.
but anyway has many people done before/after dynos of the frpp manifold? ive seen a couple, but not many.

In all honesty, I kind of regret having the heads done. They are the major source of my low end torque loss. The stock heads flow just fine. There are a few guys making more power with everything but the heads. I'm sure that I could improve my peak HP considerably with catless LT headers and a more aggressive cam, but the low end would suck even worse. However, I do have plans to go much bigger with this motor, and when I do, the heads will have already been done.
