Default car noise when I turn it on

Hey guys, I'm no expert so I need all the help I can get.
I just bought a 2010 ford mustang GT about 2 months ago, and yesterday it started making a peculilar noise. When I turn it on (not always, just when its been off for a while, and even then it doesnt always do it) it makes a "clacking" noise about 15 times in about 8 seconds, then it stops and everything is fine. The noise sounds like it comes from behing the dash board, from the CD or AC area.

any ideas? i was thinking it could be the AC system. but I wanted to get a feel for what the problem might be before i take it into the dealer to check it out.

thanks for any help

Default thanks

thanks red beast,
I just got back from the dealership (since its under waranty).
they said its the switch/damper that switches between cold and hot air.
I'm new to the site, from all the stuff i read on here, im kinda pissed i got an auto transmission mustang gt.... it seems like manuals are so much more modable.

any sufestions on things i can add to my auto GT to increase performance (that wont kill my bank)?

Search "CAI & tune". Unless you want to spend big $$'s on a SC, it'll net you about 15 or so RWHP on your '10 plus improve shift points, reduce or eliminate throttle lag and improve drivability. Heads, cams and LT's will net you the same or more but there's more to the install. Other than that, there are a number of nickle and dime performance mods.

thanks guys,
got it all fixed up, it was an actuator or something. didnt cost me anything since its still under waranty.
Yeah I will eventually do a CAI. the guy at the dealer said that they could do a new exhaust and that would increase up to 50hp and would be the most noticeable change. he did say it was about 1k for the upgrade.
thoughts?

The only increase with exhaust would be LT's with no cats AND would require a new tune. By itself, it might add about 10 RWHP but the dealer won't delete your cats so he's probably talking shorties which might gain you 5. Even LT's with cams gain you about 25 RWHP. Not worth it. Any exhaust work after the H-pipe only changes sound. You want a Brenspeed or AM CAI & custom tune, good for about 15 RWHP on a '10.

I suggest you search the forum and learn what performance mods there are and the gains before you're seduced into wasting your money. NEVER believe manufacturers claims and run even faster from the dealership.

1. That dealer is either an idiot or a crook, no way you'll get 50hp from exhaust mods alone.

2. Pissed you bought an auto because the manuals are more modable? Please explain how a manual transmission car is more "modable."

Other than more choices of shifter ***** there are really no more mods a manual can do compared to an auto...

In fact your auto transmission can be tuned so the argument could be made that your auto is more "moddable"...

Fun to drive is a different story, but that's personal preference.

Like Nuke said, search the forums, almost everything you can think of is on here and has already been asked a few hundred times
