Default Buddy blew his engine less than 5 months old..

So my buddy has a 2010 gt 5 speed and called me a couple weeks ago to tell me his engine blew. He finally got a sit rep on monday and found it had water in the cylinders. After some research we find the intake designed to put more power to the engine actually helped it suck up water. The stock intake. WTF Why did ford design an intake like this? It has taken a lawyer to get ford to pay and after the attorney had a private shop take a look at it ford is paying for it to avoid going to court. But what the hell, that is crazy. Ford really did this on all thier 2010 mustang gt's!!!????!!! Not trolling just looking for info here. Thanks guys!

What the hell did he drive thru......

If he sucked in enough water to stall an engine I would think he went full bore into a deep puddle or some thing, but to actually have water sitting in the cylinders????

Maybe he should mount it higher if hes going to ford streams with it...

Seriously, Has any one else had that problem?

Considering this is the first time I've heard of this and that the 05-09's have basically the same probability of sucking water into the intake, I'd say the kid was lucky to have had a good lawyer savvy enough to make good on his stupidity.

These engines do NOT suck water unless you do something stupid.

It is a closed airbox, it would have had to of been subject to a lot of water in order to suck in enough water to blow the engine.

I got $10 that says he had an after market CAI on it and tried to "Power wash" it at the car wash. He probably put the factory cleaner back on it before he took it to the dealer.

Now he tells his freinds his car is a POS. because he's to embarrassed to admit he took a pressure washer to his air filter.

Yeah... I've had my share of CAI intakes that went down into the wheel well and hydrolocking was a major concern... but how high our intakes take in air... it would you driving into a lake to hydrolock our engines

He is not exactly a "kid" guys. He is 49 years old and a judge for the Norfolk juvenile court. Not someone to really do crazy stuff. Intake was stock ford intake.

In a way that no body else has. OR, Maybe the fact that hes " a judge for the Norfolk juvenile court" Might have some thing to do with it.
