Newish Mustang newbie question
Just recently got my GT a few months ago and was wondering if there was a way to tell if a tune was put on it. I did some searching in the forums and to me it looked like it was basically a power vs. resistance fight for top speed. I have a 5-speed and my car seemed to easily tap out my gauge at 145, and have the power to keep going.

Funny, you don't LOOK newish...
There might be a way to tell with a handheld but I couldn't say for sure. Certainly can't tell just from driving or seeing what your top speed is. The extra 15-20 RWHP from just a tune might gain you a few mph over a stock S197 but there are too many variables. I suspect someone that can read the tune would know. That would be a good question to ask Brenspeed or AM.
There have been others that went to install a tune on an S197 bought second-hand, only to find they didn't have a stock tune loaded when their new tunes wouldn't load.

Well having previous car forum experience, while being new to this one, I hate having a "naked" sig block or avatar
Yeah I'm hoping to get a CAI and tuner soon, so that of course will answer my question outright, but as far as people not being able to load tunes, are they forever screwed, or is there a way to load a stock tune to then load your tune on.

Brenspeed and AM have both helped resolve that situation and also helped when the dealership reflashed peoples cars with an updated stock tune. It's fairly common when this arises. Both AM and Brenspeed have chimed in on the forum, too, when people have posted the problem.

The car runs perfect right now, havent had a single problem (except for a squeaky brake that started today) I was just wondering, but soon I'll have a CAI and tuner so I'll deal with it then. Thanks for the input guys
