HELP: car won't start

I went away for 10 days, came home, and my car won't start. Before leaving town, there were a few days where the car would start but the lights would flicker then come on after I turned them off and back on.

When I tried to turn the car on a few days ago it didn't even attempt to turn over, it just made an intense fast clicking sound. I first thought I had a low battery, so I tried jumping it. But that did nothing.

After researching, I am wondering if it is the starter motor? Anyone else had any issue like this?

THANK YOU!
B

Take the battery to autozone and get it tested. If the battery is fine, then it may be the alternator. If it's neither, then possibly the starter. It's going to be a process of elimination.

thank you, i figured it had to be one of those 3. i have read a few articles and threads about replacing the starter, and some say it is difficult to get to?

You have to get under the car, but it's not too terrible to take out. But it could still very well be your battery. The lights flickering makes me suspect the battery more than the starter.

My vote goes to alternator, which points to battery
