But...yeah if you have longtube headers, I'd say Comp Cams Stage 2 Thumprs are the best route to take, thats what I will be doing this summer

I love my hot rods. I wouldnt change them for anything. Good balance of power sound and driveability

Depends on which stage 2 cams you get. For our cars comp has a couple of series of cams that have different requirements, and in each series there are different stages (the higher the stage, the more serious the cam). Check out this (http://www.compcams.com/Base/pdf/COMP5-124.pdf) and see what suits you. You probably want either a stage 1 or 2 XFI NSR (No Springs Required) cam or a stage 1 or 2 Thumpr Series cam (also NSR). VSR (Valve Springs Required) and SPR (Spring and Phasers Required) will require you to upgrade your valve train.

XFI NSR:

Stage 1 (P/N 127050): http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=971&sb=0
Stage 2 (P/N 127200): http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=972&sb=0

Thumpr: (requires phase limiters)

Stage 1 (P/N 127010): http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1433&sb=0
Stage 2 (P/N 127020): http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...csid=1434&sb=0

I have the ***** Thumpr (P/N 127020) cams, and I really enjoy them!

That's a lot of duration. Did you loose a lot of bottom end or did you gain? I'm learning on cam type for the 4.6 3V. I know from experience with the GM LT/LS motors you don't want a cam duration above 230 unless it's stroked to a 383 or more. The bottom end HP lose is great and effects daily driveability. So, when I see these high duration numbers on small cubic 4.6 inches I get a little confused.

Basically what could be done with cam choice is put more power in a usable power band or make the most HP in the very high power band where most of the time the car never is...which is very noticeable loss of HP during normal driving conditions. Does this principle still apply with the 4.6 3V? I will appreciate any advice?

Lost power below 2k rpm for sure. Car won't really drive below 2k. It jolts back and forth. Not too big of a deal since I have 4.10s, but it is annoying. I lost some power from 2k-3k, but after 3k I gained. The gears help with the drivability issues. For now, she is still my daily driver, but at the end of the month I'm gonna get a small truck for a daily driver. Then I can get ridiculous with this car!
