Default 2010 Rear-Axle Dampening Kit????

Anyone had any issues with excessively noisy rear axles/bearings/differentials? My 2010 GT began making noise a few months ago and I initally thought it was the tires - replaced those and the noise remained, and has gradually gotten worse. The best way I can describe it is a metallic low-pitched whistle that occurs at all speeds and in all gears. Its especially bad if either rear seat is folded down, but even when both seats are up its loud enough you need to crank the radio to drown it out. I took it to the dealer today and they said its a known issue that requires a 'rear-axle dampening kit.' Anyone heard of such a thing?

have them fix it then if its a "known issue" and its still under warranty.

I know some of the older cars have some pretty hefty weights strapped on the rear axle, presumably to correct a harmonics issue. Sounds like this might be what they're referring to.

"Dampening Kit" is two extra windshield washer nozzles that spray on the rear axle.

A Damping kit is probably those weights you see on the 3.71 axles.
