Detriot rocker cams and 3.55 gears
#11
wow, I'm glad to see some feedback on these cams. I'm about to buy some here soon along with Pypes headers and H pipe. I was seriously concerned about running my stock 3.55 gear also. I might eventually install 4.10 but I will definitely be getting my car dyno tuned after I get the cams installed.
Save you some money in the long run.
I had 3.55's. I guess some people might be satisfied with them and the cams but I can tell you that if I did not install the 4.10's with them when I had the Cams installed..... I would have been back doing it later.
If you like the low end seat of your pants feel... you will need to do gears because the cams will take this away at the low end. Once you get going though those cams sure do pep her up.

How would doing gears save you money by doing them at the same time as cams? I could see doing HD motor mounts at the same time as doing headers, but gears are completely separate from the engine/transmission. Labor costs will be the same if you do it at the same time or do them at different times.

I realize they are completely separate but shops WILL do this often. Especially if you order through them.
I did and got the same price for the parts as I would have online. I just ended up saving about a hundred and fifty on the install.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone have any experience with Detroit Rockers, 3.55s, hi-flow x, and a Paxton? I dont want to lose too much low end, and I dont plan on changing gears or putting on longtubes anytime soon... Mainly just looking for the cammed sound without sacrificing much power.

If you had a twinscrew I would still do it but others may not.
Given the Paxton though and how it builds boost on the RPMs... I would DEF. go with 4.10's.
I really think you would be disappointed if you did not.
ESPECIALLY if you ever drove one with 4.10's or came across one.
