Should I change my plugs now?????
Im taking my car in on the 23rd. Im getting my Ford Racing Cams put in, along with my Ford Racing 3.73 rears, JBA Shorty Headers and My Flowmaster Axle backs. Then comes the Dyno tune.
I have heard alot about spark plugs not coming out, but they seem to be more of a problem with the 05-07's.
I have an 09 GT with 20,000 miles on it. I know Im changing them early, but with the JBA equal length headers Im figuring it will be next to impossible to do later.
I asked the Ford service tech and he told me that it wasnt needed and that I would be wasting money. So Im a little confused.
I was planning on having them do it. But I kind of got the impression that they didnt want to mess with the plugs?
I plan on changing my plugs, fuel filter and cleaning the air filter on my CAI before the dyno tune.
I guess Im looking for advice on what I should do?
Im not very mechanically inclined and I suffer from a lack of serious tools. My dealer said that as long as I use Ford parts and have them do the install on a vehicle I bought from them, they would honor the factory warranty.
So thats why Im going there. Should I just blow the money on changing plugs or is it a waste?

The plug type changed half way through the 2008 model year to a type that won't seize up in the head (the threads go all the way to the bottom of the plug). You don't need to change yours right now. Furthermore, the headers won't interfere with the plugs. They're much higher in the head.

Plug Question
Sorry, you can't just install the new design plugs in an '05. In mid 2008 Ford changed the design of the head and these new heads use a good old fashioned type plug, not that piece of trash "High Thread" 2 piece plug.

Follow the TSB and you should have good success. I also recommend having the removal tool at your side if you don't have a backup car though, just in case.

FWIW, this is incorrect, but the dealer would like you to think so. You are not obligated to using the dealership solely.
