Default Running Rich at Idle

I have a 06 GT that i just recently purchased with low miles on it....the gas pedal is very sensitive when trying to drive with a cold engine..if im pulling up to a stop sign in a low gear and i can hear the exhuast poping and backfiring a bit...but once i drive it for like 2 mins it fine....start-up is fine but just for another example...i was running late to work this morning and i didnt have time for a proper warm-up...jump right in, started it up and gave it gas to pull away...it bogged and stalled...and i smelled gas fumes...i tryed turning the key several time for it to start and it didnt want to as if the motor was flooded....i had to wait like 5 minutes then it was good to go.

I'd take a stab if you weren't SC'd. Hopefully one of the FI guys will help.

What you're describing probably happens most often with cars that have a mail-order (canned) tune. It means that you have to let the car idle for 30 seconds or so when it is cold. The PCM looks at the "coolant temperature sensor" to determine if the engine is hot or cold. If the engine is cold and needs extra fuel enrichment to start, the PCM increases the "on" time of the fuel injector pulses to supply more fuel to the engine - just like a choke on carbureted engines.

Bottom line, what is probably happening is that you are running rich at WOT. Once your car is warmed up, your A/F ratio is okay under normal driving until you go wide open throttle.

yea i apologize, i didnt realize that my signature still was from my old 92 gt that i used to have....Currently the 06 gt is completely stock as far as im aware...the only mod that i have are the SSS terminator axle backs but the this condition has been going on pretty much all winter....so i assume that it is something that has to do with the temp., living in Eastern, PA.

i would think that its the cold weather, taking time warming up the O2 sensors?
being in hawaii, i dont really know about cold weather.
but since its ok when its warmed up, that would be my guess.
