Smile Just changed the "dreaded" sparkplugs

All in all, it wasn't to bad.

I opted for something a little more powerful then carb cleaner. I brought out a can of PB Blaster.

I broke the plugs loose, no more then 1/8 - 1/4 turn. Squirted enough PB Blaster in the tube to just cover the hex on the plug.

When I was pulling them out, I worked them out very easily. I turned no more then 1/4 turn at any given time. It get's to a point where you know you are clear to keep turning.

The 2 front plugs were noticeably worse then the other 3 on each side. One thing I noticed, zero anti-seize on the threads.

When I put them back in, I followed the directions in the TSB and coated the area just under the threads with a thin film of anti-seize being careful to NOT get any on the tip or electrode.

When I was done, it fired right up and idled just fine.

Time spent - 45 min

The TSB recommends at least 15 minutes if I remember correctly, but I gave it two hours to sink in. Didn't break any of them with 50,000 on the clock.

It was about 15min on the drivers side and probably 30min on the passenger side by the time I got to them.

Just take your time, turning no more then 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn, tightening a little, the backing out some more.

In essence, working them out oh so slowly.

I've been spraying the plugs with alittle PB Blaster each time I change my oil, but not loosening the plugs at all. Do you think this will be beneficial when it comes time to change my plugs?

Not sure... Does it wick down without loosening the plugs? If so it may help wash down some of the carbon deposits. For sure it isn't hurting anything unless your plug wells are swimming in the stuff at this point

I would agree with this. Unless you are cracking them loose to let the PB seep down, chances are it isn't doing a bit of good.
