How to check for previous modifications to my Mustang?
Hello, I'm new to these forums so please forgive any rule breaking.
I just recently traded in my v6 Mustang for a 2006 Mustang GT (grin) and I need some advice. I have noticed that the previous owner did install quite a few aftermarket upgrades so I am curious about this. Mods I have noticed so far are an aftermarket grille, a BBK CAI, and an Optima Yellow Top battery.
I would like to know how to check what gears are in my Mustang, as well as if it has been tuned. I would also like any suggestions of things to check for modifications. The dealership told me to put premium fuel in the car which makes me wonder if it has been tuned for 93 octane.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it has a BBK CAI I would assume it has a tune. I don't know how you can check gears but you can check the axel backs, and the mid pipe pretty easy. If the car is quiet then it is most likely stock. Look under there and see if it has cats, if its an h or x pipe and what mufflers you have. Thats all I can think of right now.

If you got a tuned car I'm wondering why they didn't include the tuner? Usually the tuner remains "locked" to one particular car until you "return to stock" said car. You can check gears by comparing top gear RPM at a certain speed against others here that have more access to their 'Stangs than I do (deployed).

Thanks for the info guys. I've got another question. On my driver's seat on the side where the controls are a clip on the panel is broken so it hangs a bit loose. I was wondering where to go to buy oddball parts like that. Any ideas?

I don't know if they would have it but maybe. Or you could go to a junk yard and take the part off of one. If those are a no go, check with the dealership.

www.tascaparts.com
Tasca Parts has the cheapest OEM Ford parts I've ever seen, and they carry any part that Ford Parts sells.
