Default jet sounding noise from rear.

Had 4.10s installed by the dealer last year. No noise. Then I drove to Florida and had jiffy lube change diff fluid.... I know first mistake. Well on the way back to NY from Florida, a noise from the rear end on both sides started getting progressivly louder. I came home and figured maybe jiffy put wrong diff fluid in. So I put in 2.5 qts if Lucas oil stabalizer ( says you can use up to 100% in diffs.) Same noise no different. Like a jet that gets louder the faster you go.

Took it to a mechanic and he used a doctors hearing thing stethascope maybe. He said I had normal noise at the diff and he didn't even need the stethascope thing to hear that that the noise was coming from the wheels. And said it was the bearings.

Replaced the bearings. I still have the same noise.

What do I do. Thanks for the help.

I'm 100% sure Jiffy Lube used wrong diff fluid, by you adding Lucas isn't going to make noise go away because the damage is already done.

Did they change all the bearings? jiffy lube may have used wrong fluid or didn't put in the friction modifier from ford

Change the fluid yourself with the proper oil and FM. It stinks to have to learn a hard lesson like this but seriously the kids that work doing oil changes in any shop......well lets just say I wouldnt ever trust them. I had a dealer do an oil change in my brand new 03 Hemi truck back in 03. They put in 5 quarts, said so on the invoice. At home I had a feeling, checked the dipstick and it was low. I had to add 2 more quarts. Manual said 7 quarts. F*cking dealer couldnt get it right. You think the kid at the jiffy lube is better trained?

Dont ever trust anybody to do a job you can do. With this site you can learn to do just about any mod or servicing. Good luck, I hope the new oil quiets it down.

So should I just drive her till the rear end goes ? And spend 1300 on one of those drop in GT500 rears from ford racing .. or do u think it would be cheap to fix this. I replaced the bearings myself. I don't know about trying to rebuild the diff. Myself.

Is their any other things happening other than the new noise? Does the rear end drive normal? Single wheel burnout or two wheel burnout?

I still have two wheel burn outs. When I take the tcs off. Drivability seems the same. It's noticably louder as in coming to a full stop. If I push the car in neutral the noise remains the same with the pitch matching how fast I'm going.
