Default Need help: noise when driving straight ahead and in right turns

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my 'Stang (2006, automatic, 42000 km or 26000 miles). At speeds above 70 km/h (45 mph) there is a really noticable noise when driving straight ahead and in right turns. The noise comes and goes in about 1 second intervals and you can feel it as a vibration when driving faster (until the wind noise drowns it out at >100mph). In left hand turns everything is fine (no noise, no vibration).
I just replaced the left rear wheel bearing, which was worn, but apparently that wasn't the problem. Apparently the other bearings are OK.
Additional information: according to the mechanic the brake pads on the front need to be replaced, but the discs are straight within hundredths of a millimeter. The Pirelli M+S tires are worn on the inside track; the previous owner left these tires on, even after a wheel alignment (last year), despite the worn inside profile.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I am ordering new tires and brake pads tonight, but based only on my minimal amateur knowledge I didn't think that is the problem.
In the 'other' forum I read a thread about noise in right turns where the problem came from the steering, however I was led to believe that this isn't a frequent problem. It would be nice if it wasn't the steering
In any case, I can get it up on the lift at the mechanic's tomorrow and have a look.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

cheers,
Heiko

It may be the brake pad wear tell-tale or another bearing. Do the brakes first and then see if it persists.

Do you have long tube headers or shorty headers?

I would get it on a lift and just start poking around. Probably something under there. Look for abnormal wear, shake parts that shouldn't move. Have someone turn the wheel from side to side.

Good luck.
