Ticking sound on 2007 GT (video)
So I got this 2007 GT with a NOVI 2200SL supercharger for a steal, too good to be true... well maybe it is. The sound is difficult to hear while in the car because the previous owner conveniently made the exhaust straight thru and dump onto the ground before the real axle = LOUD inside cabin. Im getting magnapack catback put on next week
Welp... here's the video. I first thought it was one of the belts but it sounds like it is inside of the motor. Is it injectors? Sounds like its in upper part of motor if I had to guess.
When I rev the motor, to 1000-1500 rpm sitting still, the drone in the cabin disappears and I can hear the actual motor a lot better. The ticking sound goes away. So its unlike a rod or bearing, that gets faster and louder with rpms.
I got a 2 year dealer warranty, and the car was such a good deal that even if its out of service for a month it will be worth it in the end. Only headache will be dealing with how am I going to get a lightly built up motor to accommodate 10 psi.... rather than a stock GT motor. They will probably cut me a check for Ford to replace motor, then I can go to a performance shop and get it done

Thanks

if the sound is the same on both sides of the engine, it could be the
fuel injectors. if it's only on one side, then ham's gonna go with a
phaser issue. i'm ruling out a stuck lash adjuster based on the fact
that the sound goes away when you rev and it just seems to me it
would still be there for the most part regardless of rpm. good luck and
i hope it's not too serious.

I (and a huge number of other owners) have the same noise. There's a TSB for this that describes the sound disappearing at a certain RPM...according to Ford it's the Variable Cam Timing working if the noise disappears above 1200 RPMs. This is the case with my car.
