If your looking for instant power, a Roots or Twin Screw is the way to go.
If you like more control and the power to build the centris are nice.
Older Eaton Roots can be had for 4,000, and newer TVS for low to mid 5,000...

Save the cash and get what you want, is the best advise.

i agree, get what you want. i have a vortec v-3 si and its great. me and my brother put it in the car in one day with no problems. mines a 5 speed also so I havent had any of the issues that Stealth mentioned. i bought it off of americanmuscle.com and it came with everything you need to install it, 39# injectors, and dual fuel pumps, all for right at $4000. with the factory boost and the rest of my mods I'm at 450 rwhp and have no problems with it as a DD.

Ditto. The V3 on a manual feels like a big turbo on a GT. I have never had the opportunity to drive an S197 with a manual (shame on me, I know!) but I am positive that it's 100% better than with an automatic transmission because of the ability to control the revs. If I had to do it over, with an auto and 4.10s, I would have got a TVS 2300@10 PSI and be done with it

Im getting ready to order a supercharger this spring. Planning on going with the Brenspeed Vortech V3 non intercooled kit and going with a air to air intercooler later on

More than one high volume vendor has been known to significantly discount the price on the whipple if people simply ask.

1. Welcome to the forums.

2. Can I ask why? If it's a money issue, my advice is just wait until you have the dollars and get the whole kit together. Unless you plan on doing the install yourself, you would be saving on labor costs by knocking it all out in one shot.

I really didn't like the non-intercooled kit at all before I upgraded to the intercooler and smaller pulley. Hot air intake lol

New guy jumping in on the thread here with a question.
What effect would the Procharger intake have on pulling it's air from the rear of the engine bay, right above the manifold? Isn't that just heating the air more?

While the Procharger intake is in a "hot" location, it is a more effiencent compressor than the Vortech or Paxton, so it generates a little less heat. It also uses an intercooler, so taking in hot air is not a huge issue as long as the intercooler is properly sized. A cowl induction or heat extracter style hood would [in theory] help reduce IAT's as well.
