Christmas is right around the corner, and i'm basically trying to catch on some Black Friday/Cyber Monday Deals on american muscle. I have a 2006 Mustang GT with a Flowmaster American Thunder Axleback system. I want a louder sound, so I decided to buy a Pypes Offroad X pipe for it. Would this do any harm to the engine without a tune? I plan on eventually buying an intake and a tuner down the road.

What JCON said...
The O2's can only be turned off by someone with license rights to the PCM's programming via the tunes you buy. The O2's are not user-adjustable from the handheld.

That's what I was getting at. I have a Bama tuner from the PO, but I'm about 5 hours away from it ATM.
So I personally can't turn off the rear 02s without getting a tune from AM and downloading a new tune.

Other than the CEL - is it harmful to my engine?

Besides throwing a CEL for the cat's missing, you should be okay. I would recommend getting a tune ASAP so that we can turn off your rear O2's and adjust your tune a bit for the O/R X-pipe!
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!
