Default Looking at a good tune. Need ideas

Hey im looking to do the first mods on my 06 gt. In response to one of my previous posts I was advised to grab a tune. I have been looking around but want opinions. Do these Bama, and diablo, and whatever other self tuners that just load of the internet actually work well or no? Any advice is greatly appreciated

If you order a tuner from American Muscle, they will ask you 20 or so questions about the mods that your car has. They will send you a tuner with those mods already loaded. Then it's plug and play. If you are running everything stock, that's what they'll send you. Then if you mod down the road, they can send you a new tune.
As to if they work or not, my quarter mile top speed went from 104 mph to 106 or 107 mph. Not sure on the time, I can't get an accurate time while I'm just doing it on the highway.

So for every extra mod that I do will i immediately have to get a new tune that matches? Like that day? Can you drive it with newer mods with the older tune (obviously not for long). Im prettey new to this so just trying to learn. Thanks!

If you are planning to buy a CAI or gears, I would either order them at the same time or before you order the tune. So let's say you want a CAI and 3.73s. When you order the tuner, you will give them the brand name of the CAI and the gear ratio. Then it will be ready to go as soon as you get it. That's the whole "custom tune" thing. Then, two years from now, you want to change out your rear tire for something bigger. You call up Bama Tunes and get the new tune via email.

Sorry, didn't answer one of your questions. You can probably drive with a CAI say, but you run in to the danger of running too lean and hurting your engine. Same with exhaust. Gears or rear tire will throw off your speedo.

the email tunes from bama only take a day or two to receive once ordered.. many mods do not require a new tune..

If you get a lot of mods on and/or some serious mods; best thing to do is a custom dyno tune. They run $350 in my state (only two tuners)
