higher mileage motors..
how are these v8 holding up? im thinking of trading in my v6 for a v8 car. i had found one that was really clean, and had what appeared to be a rousch body kit on it, but wasnt sure. only thing, it had 123,000 on it. im pretty dead set on getting another red fire car, but should i hold out for something with lower mileage?

If it was like any of my previous 5 Toyotas I'd say it's not high mileage until it hits around 200,000 miles.
There are a few folks here with over 200k miles on their S197's and many with over 100k miles. I've heard very little in the way of engine-related failures with a few exceptions (the latest being someone in the main forum that heard a loud tapping sound for about a week or so before his engine seized.... duhhhhhhhh).
I think if the 4.6L is properly maintained, it's good for well over 200k miles. Of course, I'm not sure I can say the same for some of the accessories so expect to replace a few items as preventive maintenance.

My '06 GT 'vert is approaching the 100K mark. I have had almost zero problems, just normal maintenance. I had a fuel pump module go South as well as one serpentine belt idler pulley. Not bad for 100K miles of fun driving.

on my stock block i currently replaced i had about 116000 miles on it. ony replaced it because i wanted to push more boost out of the supercharger. other then that i never had 1 issue with it and the motor held 9lbs of boost out of a vortech pushing 423 rwhp with no problems. but 123,000 miles is getting up there so i would so hold out unless your getting a killer deal or don't like driving hard.
