Transmission Issues TR-3650
Yesterday went to leave and my trans was stuck in gear in the drive way. Me and my son had drove it earlier and just parked it like normal, no issues while we were driving. So this morning i disconnected the shifter arm from the shifter and wondering if the shifter should be able to move in a circle pattern while disconnected. I thought it has some kinda ratcheting key to determine the gear pattern. So my question is is it the trans or shifter. I sure hope it is the junk shifter that's easy, the trans is gonna be a pain and not cheap.

Yes the shifter is just a stick going through a ball joint. After market shifters add a centering spring to hide the slop and make it easier to find third but harder to find first and 5th.
With the shifter hooked back up and your foot on the floor of the clutch will the car turn over and start or does the car lurch like the transmission is engaged?

I'm going to check the linkage connection to the trans later today. It may be loose not allowing the pin to rotate correctly. It will move slightly front to rear, but i bet the syncro's keys for some reason has it locked in gear if that isn't the linkage being loose at the trans.

I checked the front linkage and with the linkage off of the transmission i cannot move the shifter pin forward or backward or even left or right. I drove it down the road and it seems it is in 4th gear maybe. Tried rocking the drive shaft back and forth with attempting to move the shifter lever and no luck. One good thing i can start the engine and hold clutch in and have it pulled up onto the roll back if needed.
