JLT II intake and tune question

JLT II intake and tune question
I currently have a JLT II CAI and SCT tuner purchased back in 06.
I see that there is a SCT 3 tuner and a new JLT III intake.
Is there any performance to be gained by upgrading to the new stuff?
Thanks guys.

I've heard of SOME picking up a few hp, but the small gains wouldn't be anywhere near worth the money IMO. Tuner wouldn't make a difference at all except you'd have something a little newer to store your tunes on, if I'm not mistaken.

I think it's more if you have more supporting mods. For example, the JLT III was designed specifically with both a bone stock car, as well as one with a saleen supercharger in mind. Someone with the supercharger would benefit a bit more.
That being said, I know of someone specifically that gained 10 rwhp and 9 rwtq from the switch, but I don't imagine all cars would have that much of a gain. If you really want to upgrade, I think you'd be fine keeping your tuner but buying a new intake. A few have said they definitely noticed a fairly large difference between the two after the upgrade, while others have said it was small.
Btw, not knocking it at all. I LOVE my series III and noticed a huge difference from stock I just can't compare to the series II. I also love how everyone is in awe of how big it is when I open the hood, it makes a good focal point. With the molded plastic I think it's much prettier to look at.

I suppose I should shoot Brenspeed a call to make sure the xcal II will work with the new intake, that way I could save the cost of the tuner. I would like to add the cmdp plates and JBA catforwrd shorties (Cali) to go with the new intake, hopefully I will see some noticeable gains.
