Default Steeda Motor Mounts

I have just purchased some Steeda mounts and I was curious as to what other people have done about the engine height. I have not talked with my installer yet about it, but I will before install. I have a stock oil pan so my main question is how low can I go without having it stick out below the engine cradle?

Shouldn't be too hard to do. Couple hours on the weekend for free.

I talked to Steeda and if you do not have a blower, you can go 3/4". I do, so they recommended only going 1/2". It has to do with the spacers adding strength to the mount and the blower adding 50+ pounds to the engine. Either way, I wouldn't be concerned with to oil pan hanging too low; it's not really an issue at all. I did the job myself -- conceptually easy, kinda a PITA to actually do, but I did it in about 2.5 hours.

With regards to the pinion angle: If you still have the stock 2 piece drive shaft, the angle will be corrected at the middle u-joint. If you have a 1 piece drive shaft, you will be required to get an adjustable upper control arm (or adjustable lowers, whatever) to correct the angle.

FWIW - I won't take credit for the pinion angle knowledge. That bit of info was given to me by Robert Kennedy at www.kennedysdynotune.com - this guy has forgotten more about cars (Mustangs in particular) than I will ever know in my lifetime.

The stock drive shaft doesn't have a middle u-joint it has two CV joints and one u-joint so pinion angle is never an issue with it. With a so called one piece drive shaft with two u-joints you probably would have to do some adjusting but it is easier with the motor front moved down. With a real one piece drive shaft from PST or DSS it you don't have to worry about at all.

You want to replace my Shaftmasters with a PST carbonfiber?

Would much rather have a DSS.. Nothing against PST but I had DSS products in my WRX and it handled the power like a dream with no issues, no noise, no vibration.. If their carbon fibers go under 1K for my GT I will more than likely pick on up...

Well hey, beggers cant be choosers, whatever you want to buy me

My shaftmaster is 18.5 pounds and Tacobill posted a picture of the stock shaft weighting 38.8. Can't complain about 20.3 pounds lighter.

Seems the PST is listed as ~12lbs. ~27 lighter than stock would be nice as well ...
