Default Free Horsepower??

My friend with his 98 LS1 says theres little tricks he can do in his car that increase performance like changing little things or moving stuff around. Do we have any free horsepower trick for our cars?

I'm curious...what tricks lol? Other than the same things that any other car responds to, I have no clue what would make a LS1 so different. The respond great to bolt ons, HCI, and nitrous for sure

If there were ways to increase HP without cost, Ford would have already did it in production.

hes probably just talking about a few little things that everyone does. throttlebody bypass, messing with the intake, different tubing behind the maf housing, etc

nothing actually that noteworthy. especially with a 98.

i think there is a trick for like 6hp. maaayyybe. but its like 3 bucks

Not really.. on the fox's there definitely was though.. I've known a few f-body owners who would drill holes into their exhaust saying it would give more power, that's free, haha..

If you move about 200lbs "around" from the car to the garage floor, your power-to-weight ratio improves. Is that what he means?

stop eating, lose 50LBS.
disconnect the battery, resets adaptive learning
gas pedal calibration - sometimes improves throttle feel
remove air filter from enclosure (I wouldn't try this)
run while cool
remove stuff (spare tire, seats, etc.)

not a whole lot on the table without a tune.

so these were his "free mods" 1. cut the air box where the filter sits to get more air (and dust?) a coolant bypass - hose from radiator to the tb so keeps the motor hot and gets rid of the gases (huh?) and cut the MAF sensor screen for more airflow. My friend had one for his 04 mustang that was tighten the gas pedal so it would be more responsive
