Default Fuel gauge needle stuck past full?

So i got in an accident a few months back and ever since i picked it up from the shop the fuel needle has been stuck past full. Iv tried filling it up as much as possible in hopes to get it unstuck and used chevron techron, neither worked.

Im assuming replacing the sending/sensor unit would be the next thing to try? Anything else it could be?

More likely it's the stepper motor in the gauge cluster. 05's and early 06's have had chronic stepper motor failures. Try the search feature and you'll see a lot of info on it.

Mine would not go past 3/4 full when I bought it. I ran a can of Seafoam through it and it has been fine for 2.5 years.

Borrow a MSD DashHawk from a friend.
The DashHawk shows fuel level as a percentage.
It is dead on when calculating how much fuel to
pre-pay for.
Plug it into the OBDII port and see if the
sender is sending or if it is indeed the
gauge stepper motor problem.

check connection at gas tank. i had a car that this happened to and turned out the wiring from gauge to tank became disconnected. you would think it wouldn't read at all but it went way past full. mine was a loose plugin behind the drivers side wheel well, car had about 19k miles when it happened. don't know about your wreck, what area of your car, but look for the wiring how it is run, factory leaves no slack, so it have cut or nicked and corroded into.

The access to the fuel hat is under the rear drivers side seat.

That was my first thought!
I've been experiencing stepper motor issues with the RPM and thermostat gauges for quite sometime now. Some days they work, some days they don't. Other days they will stick at certain points and will correct itself after a few starts or by disconnecting the battery for about 30 min.
