Default I think my clutch slipped today!

I shifted into second, release the clutch and nailed the throttle. Now it's sometimes hard to tell in my car if my tires are spinning or the clutch is slipping, but I'm pretty sure I smelled clutch and the rear didn't kick sideways like it normally does and it hit 6k rpms really fast(shift light setting)

Now there is no way I've worn out a spec stage 3+ in 2,000 miles, so what would keep the clutch from fully engaging? Is it possible for the pedal to come back up, but the fluid not make its way back to the master cylinder? Seems like the pedal would stay down in a case where the hydraulic slave wasn't compressing. My clutch pedal did have a not so smooth feeling a few weeks ago. When letting it out it was not a smooth transition, felt almost gritty, very strange feeling.

I know the pressure plate bolts backing out is one possibility.

This happened right before I got home, so i'll take it out tomorrow and datalog it. If I have to pull this freaking transmission again I'm going to scream!

lol that would be funny if he hit forth but i doubt he did.

Sounds like something not normal happened for sure but i would hope the clutch didnt fail that early either.

No, no way to mistake 4th for 2nd, I was only going 20mph or so. I had just left a stop sign.

It's possible I was smelling burnt rubber and not clutch, it didn't quite have that obnoxious clutch smell, but I don't normally smell anything when my tires spin. I will put my drag radials on tomorrow and there will be no doubt.

Well I think it was a false alarm, must have just spun'em up really fast. I couldn't really test it yesterday like I wanted, but I did do a 3rd gear WOT pull up hill and it did not slip.

I think the smell was just exhaust fumes, rubber and possibly belt slipping. I always seem to have a burning smell after a full throttle episode.

What A/F are you running at? Could be a lot of left over fuel burning up in your exhaust.

Off topic, but get that Whipple 10-rib kit. Awesome upgrade. I'm so much more consistent with it than I ever was without it.

11.4:1. When I let off it will go to 9:1, so there is definitely fuel left in the exhaust. I think this is normal regardless of your WOT afr.

I was planning to order the steeda kit once my snout started leaking. Doesn't look like that's ever going to happen though. So how much boost are you making with that belt drive?

12 psi on a first gen. I actually peaked higher on my 3.125" 6 rib pulley, but at higher RPMs, it was slipping and losing boost. The 10-rib holds boost all the way to 6500 rpms.
