Default Effect of vacuum on motor oil (chemistry)?

Anybody know a lot about oil chemistry?

I've been searching, but haven't found anything on this yet.

Do vacuum pumps have a long term effect on the chemistry of motor oil?

I was researching direct injection, which led me to valve deposits which made me think about the pvc system, which made me think of krank vents (which definitely pulled a vacuum on my old car...it would hiss when pulling the dipstick).

I know it's supposed to help with power etc. But would pulling the volalites out of the oil mess with the lubricity/durability/etc of oil?

Oh, by the way, maybe i'm behind the times but i just read the LS1 is using GDI, how long before we get it in a Ford V8?

Thanks,

I have one, JLT. Unless I'm doing something wrong, oil still gets through.

I'd still like to find out (for my own curiosity) what a vacuum does to engine oil.

I don't think being under vacuum does anything to engine oil. Is that the question you're asking? It probably keeps more contaminates out of the oil, like fuel vapor.

I have a moroso catch can and still get oil on the back side of my throttle body. I'm pretty sure the moroso is superior to most of the others. Some of them are nothing more than a can inline. With the moroso, oil has to travel through a filter, up to the outlet tube at the top of the can, then back down and out the outlet at the bottom of the can.

Without the catch can installed, I get a puddle of oil in my whipple inlet elbow. If I were using just breathers on the cam covers, no PCV system, then I'd probably change my oil more often.

My KB came with a filter. My throttle body is 100% spotless.

And I think vacuum does nothing to the chemistry of oil.

Aren't you running a lower compression engine? How much vacuum do you get? I get 26+inches when letting off the throttle at high rpms and that's when oil gets past the catch can.

What kind of filter does kenne bell supply?
