Default Coolant flush and now.....

2009 gt 42000 miles..

i just did a radiator flush (drain the old fluid and put new ) last week, and now when i use the heat i smell antifreeze. i never had this problem before. I did everything right with the flush. Any opinions?

Can i take out the radio or glove box to see the actual heater core to see if its leaking?

i am NOT loosing any antifreeze

any help is appreciated guys!!

You could remove the radio and/or glove box or just grab a flash light and poke your head under the dash in the passenger side footwell. I did a flush this summer (actually did it twice) and have noticed a few funky smells this winter when using the heat. Check all of your connections to ensure they're tight and that it's not leaking in the engine compartment.

Is it worth actually flushing the fluid instead of just draining and refilling? Because If you get it flushed doesnt it clean the block out?

I've found that if you spill a little, you smell it a lot... for a long time. Especially if you spill it on a surface that gets pretty hot.

We have a flush machine at work but I don't particularly like it, so I did it the old fashion way. Got it up to temperature, drained the radiator, and used a vacuum canister to suck out the reservoir. Filled everything back up with fresh fluid.

Repeated the process again the following day for good measure.

Open the empty glovebox, squeeze the sides in, and it will fold down even further

I think you may have some spillage somewhere.
