Default automatic gear & shifting

Hello

Finally i took the step to tune my car with sct tuner, i used to keep it on the race tune which really was very fast and amazing, then i added corsa muflers and its even better, now added the steeda CAI changed the tune and the problems started , noticed that shifting from the 2nd to 3rd the car acts like i shift to N then on high rpm it engages also if im driving slow or fast but if it engages without this idle i feel like its a rough engagment and pulls me like someone hit the car from the back if the rpm is high but few times it works just smooth and i noticed that sometimes there is a lag in the reverse gear engagment
Tried checking all the screwsand tighted them
Cleaned the maf sensor
Changed the gear oil and filter
Removed the air filter and checked if anything stuck or maybe mistightened
Tried to reset the throttle by the gas pedal way
Removed the battery negative plug for an hour
With no luck
Now i returned my stock intake with the stock tune but somehow i still feel the same semptoms
Now im looking for physical check for the gear
But is there any thing i can do before the physical check?

Did you change the tune yourself or did you download a new tune after adding the CAI?

Its custom tuner and i took it to steeda dealer , he installed new tunes before i install the CAI ,because he told me that without the tune the wont start.
I went to him back and he doesnt believe that this is from him he believes that my gear is messed up.
I returned everything back with the stock tune but the problem stoll exists! I think that there is something needs to be cleaned or tuned i dnt know.

I cleaned the MAF also.
So what might be common in causing the reverse and the 3-4 shifting has this lag at the same time?

Order a tune from a real mustang tuner like brenspeed or bama. Your guy doesn't sound like he is a s197 expert. Brenspeed and bama can tune the auto trans better than anyone.

Thanks for the props 808, we really appreciate that. We can definitely help you out with your tune and deliver a really power but still safe tune!

However, since your car is acting up even on the stock file it sounds like there's some other things to look into! Since you cleaned the MAF already, give the Throttle body and TPS sensor a good cleaning to. You could do a full tune up as well if you'd like, it can only help your car run better! Spark Plugs, Wires, Fuel filter etc...

If this doesn't pin point your problem, then we can do some more trouble shooting. I hope this helps, best of luck and let me know if you have any questions! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

If you went back to stock and it still has the shifting problems, it sounds like your transmission needs a rebuild or replacement.

Same exact thing happened to my auto trans on a steeda tune. Now I'm swapping it out for a manual because I found metal shavings in my trans pan. From second to third on high rpm I get grinding and it slams into gear does the same on down shifting also. If problems continue to happen after all steps by Dam are taken I'd take the car to an auto trans expert(not a dealer) to have the pan dropped for inspection and filter changed.

I'd definitely go back to stock to confirm that it's the tune causing the issue, then once you determine that's all well on the stock tune, order tunes from BAMA or Brenspeed to go with your CAI and any other mods that need to be included for the tune. You'll be quite happy.

Yikes! How does this even happen?!
What gear are you going with and what's the cost on rebuilding?
