Default Shaker 500 to 1000

I have a question. I have the shaker 500 system in my car. I want the shaker 1000. My buddy has it in his and I want the thump. My car is still under warranty so I'm looking to find a way to upgrade to the 1000.

What all would I need or is it going to be too much of a pain in the *** and very expensive?

You could also just get a 10" Kicker L5 and put it in your trunk. It will give you all the bass you want and not take up a lot of room. Adding a sub and a amp will not void your warranty. Any audio shop can install it for you. I have had the L5 and L7 (square cone) kicker subs and never had a problem or not enough bass. Good luck on your search man.

Taking out my stock head unit would void my warranty through car max... So will a sub sound good through my stock head unit?

Shaker 1000 is pretty sweet if the car came with it but not really worth swapping in unless you can get the whole system for very cheap.

Use high level input or a convertor and tap into the rear speaker wires. Aftermarket sub will sound just fine through the stock headunit, be easier to install than the 1000, and have more potential.

I have never heard of changing the head unit to void the warranty but every warranty is different. You can do like red96 said and just tap into the rear speakers and then just use the remote amp switch to turn up or down the bass levels. It will sounds good with the stock unit, you just will not be able to fine tune it like a after market radio that has sub controls.

I have been looking on sonic electronix.

Would my stock head unit be good enough for two L3 solo baric 10" subs? Or should I just get one? Not sure. I'm sure I'll have to sound dampen the trunk because I remember my buddy having 2 10's in his trunk and his trunk rattled so bad on the outside.

Stock head unit shouldnt really have an impact on an aftermarket system, other than ease of adjust-ability.

Get a quality amp and wiring kit and those two L3s will beat just fine. Will rattle the hell out of the trunk and entire car, my Shaker 1000 does. So some sound dampening would be a really good idea.

I had 2 12" Kicker CVXs powered by (I think, been a few years) a Kicker zx750.1 at 2 ohms, along with the factory head unit and Shaker 1000. Used 0 gauge wire for the amp and tapped into the rear speakers for signal. Beat hard enough to knock my rear view mirror off, make the side mirrors useless, and destroy all the trim and the light in my trunk...

My lights would dim pretty noticeably and I believe the 1000 cars came with a more powerful alternator from the factory... So if youre looking for a powerful system you might also want to look into upgrading your battery/alternator/wiring.

I had 1 12" L5 in my wife's Jetta and dinomatted the whole trunk and still had to lay the seat down to cut down on the rattle. That was with the stock head unit but I used the remote sub control that came with my kicker amp. That one solar baric was loader then my buddies 2 15" JLs in his accord. Get the kicker ported box with yours and it will rock you car even with the stock head unit.
