what do I need to kill a 5.0?
guy at work is smack talking be because he has a 2012 5.0, so he thinks that my 2005 is inferior because its old and i cant afford a 5.0
what do I need to be able to beat his stock 5.0?
I have the S197 "starter pack" of mods, short throw, CAI, tune, axleback....
havnt finished getting my suspension parts together, but when thats done it will be K-springs Koni reds and eventually BMR's entire catalog...

You need to buy my old whipple HO kit, LOL.
Really, you pretty much need to have a turbo or supercharger of some kind or spray nitrous.
The 5.0s are pretty stout, stock they have around 360-370 RWHP, a 4.6 with every bolt on short of FI will struggle to hit that power level, but I believe it has been done.

Gears! 4.10's and other bolt ons will run with them.. Till about 75-85mph. Then the 5.0 power takes over. I've raced my buddy's stock ( except exhaust) 2013 gt for fun and I actually will be about half a car ahead till 80 or so then he will slowly walk on me... But slowly. If you want to beat one all around FI ftw

Forced induction.
I can't stand people like that. Homeboy needs to understand where his car comes from and not hate on that heritage. That's like hating on your parents.*

well depending on his level of skill, whether or not hes in a manual you might be able to take him in a really really short race if you had 4.10's. above 60 though he will start to trounce you.
but to completely kill him in any race. forced induction.
or maybe 4.56 in the rear with some drag slicks? that might not be too shabby haha.

I'm aiming for a Coyote killer too, haha. Maybe kill is harsh since we're all in the family together, but they are definitely beatable and without FI, though FI makes it a lot easier, plus if they are modded then your chances just went down quick. You'll need basically full bolt ons + suspension + gears + driver mod, etc to hope to match or get close to their power and put it to the road better than them.

Get a blower dude, that'll force your buddy to open his wallet if he wants to beat you now.
If yours is paid off, just keep asking him how that monthly pmt is unless of course if he paid cash. Then just keep your mouth shut. Lol

Truth be told the 5.0L is a beast stock the whole design of the engine was made to be a monster right out of the showroom. Mustang on Mustang hate is just not cool though like the above posts said its like hating on your parents.
My 72 Mach1 can't even come close to hanging in a street race with my 5.0L hell my wifes 3.7L can lay the smack down all over the Mach1. My Mach 1 comes from another era when horsepower was coming to an end and the dawn of the Mustang II was on the horizon. She's 100% stock except for the flowmaster exhaust and I have no plans of ever resto mod to her. I could turn that Mach1 into a supercharger monster that will just devastate my 5.0. But in my opinion it would ruin the car you hardly see any 71 - 73 Mach1's. I have seen a few but they were always running new aftermarket parts have not seen one that was completely factory.
I am not saying don't mod your 05 though. I say go for it with the newer mustangs it's going to be years before their value flips and starts going up. She's going to have to have FI or Turbo to take down a 5.0L. Just hope to god your buddy does not decided to put an FI on his 5.0L. Or if he drops the Boss302 Intake on her and puts a Hellion Twin Turbo and busts out 1200 HP.
