Help! Returned car to stock and now I'm running lean
Hi All,
Returned my car to stock last weekend since I need to get it inspected. 06 GT w/ a C&L CAI and 93 race tune. After I returned to stock it started running rough and would stall out once in a while when stopped or close to stopping. Unplugged the battery multiple times and things have only gotten worse. Through a code today P0171 (running lean) and then by the time I was home it was spitting and sputtering like crazy, almost undriveable. It started to overheat a little so I just put it in the closest spot I could find.
Any ideas or suggestions? Is this a computer problem or was this just a coincidence that all this went on right when I returned to stock?
PS I've tried returning to stock via the tuner and also unplugging the battery - same results.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Justin

Thanks. I'll try loading a tune and see if it stops the sputtering. Any ideas on how to avoid this other than swapping out the CAI with the stock air filter or getting MILs? Is there any way to see what tunes of mine leave the O2 sensors on?

A C&L CAI does REQUIRE a tune. Without a tune, your car will run lean and engine codes will arise.
You will need to either install your stock airbox back on or request an emissions friendly tune from the company you ordered your custom tunes from.
I have emissions friendly custom tunes from Brenspeed and have passed emissions test with all 3 custom tunes. =)

Come now, OP.... You know that you needed a tune for your CAI. And because of that, returning to stock requires reloading the stock tune AND replacing the CAI with the stock airbox. Therefore, you haven't returned your car to stock.
