I still have the stock 3650 in my ride and although it has lasted, I think it may be on its last leg. Since 2008, I have been racing it with slicks, making over 600hp. It's pretty tough.

Its not rated for a whole lot more power than the cars come with from the factory, but the 3650 seems pretty stout.
If it doesnt suffer from synchro issues from the factory. Mine has since pretty much the beginning. Very annoying to shift, but still going strong.
Still on the factory clutch too, 70k.

I'm with Simon. I beat the dog s*** out of my stock tranny with over 500rwhp. I launch on slicks and powershift at 6000+ RPMs. With 250+ passes at the drag strip, my stock transmission is still stock. I changed the fluid to Royal Purple a while back but other than that it's never been opened. The synchros have been acting a little pissy for the past year or so, but I'm not replacing it until I break it.

+1, only Im not on slicks. I havent been very kind to it since Ford couldnt ever replicate the issues and my warranty ran out.

Waiting for it to finally die so I can replace it with a TR6060 (and get a new clutch+TOB all at the same time) , but it just refuses to. Pretty beast stock transmission, especially considering what Im used to with GM 4L60E's...

We got enough weenie comparo as it is in this section.
Hi, did I miss the weenie comparo?

jk

Haven't owned a manual trans for about six years, and though it was fun.. the third gear syncro's and shift fork was horrid. It left me stranded twice in three years. Yeah, it was an SRT-4 Neon and I drove it to hell but it left me shying away from a stick shift. Truth be told, I love driving stick!

I would want a new 5.0 or 2015 in a manual trans or a 2008 Bullitt I am looking at.. but it still worries me about those issues of the past.

I am forgetting the fact that it's horrible up here in the winter and about 18-25 inches of snow during storms. I also drove my 08 fine through four years of that crap! lol

It all depends on how rough you are on the equipment and also the timing of your shifting.
You had a Neon, which is a Chrysler product... What was your first clue?

Take points from the guys like Simon and other hard core launchers here, if they do that many passes with it and packing 600 ponies or so and the tranny is still in one piece, it's a good piece of equipment IMO.
Even after all the bad rep of the 5.0, I'd still get the manual if it's what you want...
