Lash Adjuster Replacement

Lash Adjuster Replacement
I've been a long time lurker of these forms, and hoping someone can help me with my question.
Last week I got the infamous knocking in my engine in my 2005 GT. I took it into a local shop to diagnosis it. They changed the oil, but it didn't remedy the knocking. They said after reading the TSB's on the knocking they think its the Lash Adjusters, but need to open it up to be sure. They said if it is the Lash Adjusters I have 3 options....
1) Replace the Lash Adjusters, but this will be a short term fix and will likely have issues down the road. (I bought the car with 65k, and its now at 89k. I don't know the history of the previous driver) $1.5k
2) Do a full valve job, but said if your going to spend the money, might as well get a new engine and not worry about issues arising down the road. $4k
3) Get a new engine. $6k
They said, unless you love the car then you should probably do the replacement of the lash adjusters and sell the car. I owe about 10k on the car now, as I only bought it a year ago. I don't really want to dump 4-6k into this car. But is the replacement of the Lash Adjusters just going to prolong the inventible of needing a valve job/new engine?

Do the lash adjusters.
I replaced my lash adjusters on my 05 GT myself. Ford racing makes a kit with the revised adjuster. replace the adjusters and the problem shouldn't come back. mine hasn't.
Buy the spring compressor kit that comes with the cam chain wedge. The adjusters wont come out without taking the cam out. I did it without the compressor and it was a pita.
If you want to do cams, now would be the time.
