Default are wheel spacers safe?

I want to give my mustang a track car look and feel. I know widening the wheels is one way people have been saying looks good and improves handling. I sometimes hear they aren't safe. Its one more thing to break between the wheel and the hub and it can fail. Has anyone had any problems? especially in high speed situations?

When I purchased my Mustang used, it came with 20" Cobra "R" replica wheels and spacers. I haven't had any issues over the past 6 years. They seem very safe to me!

Spacers are just fine, slap those babies on, but make sure to buy a GOOD quality spacer like H&R for example.

PM me if you need a set of spacers, I can help out

I've got Eibach spacers in the rear on my very and I've done several 130mph runs without issue. Regularly cruise at 90. Nary a wobble. Literally just occurred to me they were there while I was going that fast. Buy good quality and follow the factory specs for installation. Torque wrench required.

Unless you have insane power, you're good.
Anything bigger than one inch will be hard on the front wheel bearings at least...

I'd bet spacers increase the moment and therefore the load on the bearings.

The moment arm is perpendicular to the action of the force...so larger diameter tires increase the moment arm, not the spacer. The only extra work the axle does is to rotate the spacer (which I feel is probably negligible).

Don't over think a spacer I bought some from my local auto store for not very much. I have been using them for 4 years now and zero problems.
