Is there a class / open tracking for Automatic Mustangs?
Yes I know this is a weird question. Please bear with me. My dream is / was that I was going to get a 2005 or newer GT and put some better brake pads, tires and wheels and suspension, such as Steeda, manual car of course to do open tracking, maybe spec Mustang, something like that. Well my head wants to do something that my body unfortunately can't do any more, that is drive manual at this point in time, car will mostly daily driver with some track time. I have neurological back and neck issues due to fairly serious car accident some years ago. Lots of residual issues. Well I still want to drive, get a mustang but don't know if there is such a thing as a class for automatic Mustangs especially since there are so many of them around. Is this a waste of time? I live in Sac, Ca. Ger.

check with your local Mustang clubs about track days. Also can check with the local tracks and see when open days are or what series they run. Can also check with SCCA and see what classes they have and what you might fit into.

I have a highly modified automatic 06 GT which I drag race very frequently. One thing you need to consider when running an auto is heat. You would want to install a Performance Automatic deep trans pan and a catch can for the trans as well. Heat is the enemy and those two items will help trememdously. A TCI ratchet shifter would make autocross very fun too. You could shift the auto trans. I would turn off the overdrive button as well when racing.
Whether there is a class or not I say follow your dream. I admire you for wanting to do this and not let your bodily limitations hold you back. Life is short, go for it!

like mentioned by 808 Heat in an Auto trans also would rec a performance trans fluid cooler and possibly an oil cooler as well. also brake heat can be and issue to depending on course and such. Check out a front brake duct kit to .
