Default Intake bolts too long in delete plate manifold swap.

Ran into a snag tonight. Was in the process of installing a 2009 intake manifold on my 2005 mustang gt. I got it cheap from brenspeed because it didn't have the charge motion plates. Well tightening the intake bolts I noticed that they stop about .40" before being flush. What do you guys recommend? Just getting bolts from a hardware store or going to get the actual intake bolts for a 2009 at the dealer?

The front bolt is about where it stops at.

I would get OEM hardware, but I wouldn't get it from the dealer. Get the part# and search eBay and such to save 40-60% off a dealer priced item.

So it looks like you are tryingto bolt the intake directly to the manifold? There needs to be a delete plate between the intake and the manifold.

The FRPP manifold does not include charge motion plates because it comes with the deletes molded in. Doesn't require you to buy anything more. I have one.

Those are not the correct bolts. You should have been supplied new ones that come with the kit.

I ended up going to the local hardware store and buying the correct threaded bolts and washers that were short enough to snug down! Problem solved. In fact just took her for a drive and everything is working fine on the setup. The difference in intake height isn't very much at all.

For 2009 intake manifolds the CMCV's were built into the stock intake itself. There isnt a separate plate for them, and you have to use a plug kit instead of a delete plate to get rid of the valve/flapper thingies.

Yes, and that's the manifold I nabbed from Brenspeed to put on my 2005. It's still too cold out and the streets are still wet from melting snow to do an effective butt dyno test. But I can say I don't notice any low end loss that people often used to associate with this mod.

On '05-'08 models the CMCVs are separate assemblies that are bolted to the intake manifold runners so if you want to replace them with delete plates, you simply unbolt the CMCVs and swap over the delete plates.
On '09-'10 models the CMCVs are integrated into the manifold itself so instead of replacing them with delete plates, you simply remove the butterfly valves/shafts and use aluminum plugs (Steeda) to fill in the holes.
