Default exhaust questions

okay so installed a set of PYPES Pipebomb mufflers on my 08 GT/CS and though its a definite improvement over stock i'm still not totally satisfied with the way it sounds. What can i do to improve the sound on my stang?I'm looking for that loud, aggressive exhaust note that will turn heads when i hit the throttle.Should install a set of headers or go for an aftermarket mid pipe?Any advice will be much appreciated

Longtubes and an offroad x pipe will probably get you what you're looking for.

Long tubes would be the way to go. As far as off road x it depends if you have emissions inspection in your state. With the off road x the rear O2's have to be shut off to prevent an engine light and that would cause a failure. If your able to run cat less it is the best way for performance gains. I recommend American Racing Headers they have a great sound to them also seem to fit the best for ease of install.

i my opinion, the pypes were not a good route. they are loud but its not all about volume. Its about the sound. I think you should get an offroad h pipe and muffler style axle backs or maybe even resonator/shotgun style axle backs. That would sound deep, loud and aggressive. the x pipe and pypes are just "nasty" sounding to me

From my experience with multiple exhaust set ups, don't go off-road if you want the best sound. I love my longtubes, O/R ProChamber, and Bassani Race mufflers but many times think it sounded better when I just had Mac Boomtubes and an other wise stock exhaust. When you go off road midpipe, you get a higher pitched, raspy, and drone filled exhaust. If you do decide to get a catless system, be sure to get good mufflers, preferably dual chambered.

Here are some of my exhaust videos:
