Questions regarding charging battery
Hey guys, I noticed occasionally my interior lights will go dim. Couple examples... yesterday when I rev'd the engine, a couple weeks ago when the car wasn't running and I adjusted the powerseat. I tested the battery and it's at 12.25v. 13.37v when running (everything turned off.) While running, I turned on heat, radio, headlights, then turned them off and got a reading of 12.6v. Went back up to 13.3 after a little bit. I don't have any experience charging batteries. I have an old charger from the 90's I plan on using. Should I charge it at 12v 2A or 6A? How long do I charge it and can I overcharge it? Can I test the battery voltage while it's charging? Thanks in advance!

Your alternator is weak and these are early warning signs of impending failure, so plan on replacing it ASAP. Charging the battery won't be any use at this stage 'cause it'll soon be discharged again. Wait until you have the battery out of the car to replace the alternator and charge it then.

I charged the battery today and ya, it looks like it's the alternator. Ugh... at least it should be covered under warranty since I bought it at the Ford dealership. The alternator drops down to 12.6V with everything (lights, A/C, radio, etc.)

It'll only be covered by the warranty if the stealership installed it.
I suggest you get the 2010 alternator as a replacement even if you have to pay extra. They're much more reliable than the trouble-prone 05-09 alternators.

even if you installed the alternator, the part will be covered, but not the labor, they do have an over the counter parts warranty

I took it into the dealership today and they ended up replacing it for free. They wouldn't install a 2010 one though (I would have had to pay full price.) The voltage still seems to be low... The car is idling with nothing on at 13.5V. With everything on (high beams, radio, heated seats, A/C, etc) it's dropping to 12.9V. When I rev'd the engine the RPM's would actually drop down after for a second where it felt like it was almost going to stall (and the Voltage dropped to 12.7). Didn't seem to do this before! Hmm...
