I truly believe Ford does something different with the OEM gear install from the factory. And it seems impossible to duplicate. My 3.55 OEM gears are perfectly quiet. I had my last Mustang gear swap done by a master Ford tech and they still had whine on decel. This is exactly the reason I won't have a swap done on my '07.

I had my first set of 4.10 gears installed and had to take it back it whined so bad....the second set was fairly quiet but still had some noise that i got used to. Just installed my spydershaft last week and for some reason which is fine by me the noise is all gone. Maybe the harmonics of the stock drive shaft ?? The spydershaft does seem to make the car sound different too...think the old driveshaft which has the center mount makes the car sound different..... both gear wise and also the exhaust is different too. But over all ...I wouldn't change a thing because the gears are sooo worth it.

I hear all that, got 3.73 FRPP gears and Ford install pack with shims, etc....specifically to minimize the noise, most of the whine is during deacceleration and it is loud enough to hear over my exhaust set-up which is fairly loud !!!

A reputable shop installed and I have about 750 miles on the gears so I think the break-in period is over, starting to believe you get whine with non-stock gears and thats just the way it is !!!My LCA/UCAs are noisey as well, performance parts tend to make you sacrifice things, gas mileage !! comfort !! and $$$$$ lol
Smartest postI've read inmonths.... very true.

I had 3.73 installed, no whine. Maybe ask if they put the friction modifier (4oz.) with new fluid.
That will definitely make 'em whine.
