Question Which oil you recommend for engine 4.6 V8

Hello my GT V8 4.6 2005 Have 180,000ml run . I was changing oil every 3kml with motorcraft 5w20 but some guys in my country GEORGIA EUROPE told me that its to small and when engine gets hot my oil gets thin . They told me som racing coil 5w40.

What you can say about it?

I am not daily driver home to work. I am street racer and I need good oil which you would recommend?

I sure would not use 5w40. I believe it doesn't get hot enough to worry about heat where you live. Motorcraft 5w20 is very good oil

5W20 is fine since these motors have tight clearances and good oil pressure....heavier oil will just move oil slower with more pressure!!

We tore down my 4.6 Mercury Marauder engine with 256K miles and there was virtually no wear......5W20 Mobil I every 5K miles and FL-820 filters every change......that's it!!

Motor on....travel safe!!

Mobil I is synthetic but most quality oils these days will work fine with regular changes based on your driving conditions!!

Ford recommends 5W20, that's what I would use. Pennzoil Platinum, full synthetic would be a good choice. My 4.6L has had nothing but 5W20 for 160,000 and still runs like a new one. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W20.

This. Anything other than 5W20 might cause the VCT to malfunction as it requires the correct oil viscosity and pressure.

I've been using 5w-30 Castrol full synthetic Syntec for about 30K miles now (I have 86K on the car). Works just fine. Tolerances loosen up over time and yes, heat will kill a 5w-20 oil (In most southwest states) dino or synthetic. I live in AZ and the engine is quieter at temp with the 5w-30, especially during the summer.

5W-20 is the recommended oil, and I do not believe the average temperature in Georgia, EU is that extreme to warrant going to a thicker oil. What kind of summer temps do you see? If you were in Qatar, or Bahrain and had extended seasons of 125 F (50 C), then that might be different

I used to live in the UAE where summer temps. were 50*C (122*F), and I still used 5W-20. Now I'm in Cyprus where the weather is much milder so I'll continue using the same grade of oil. The engine has done 84k miles.
