The only common engine problem I can think of is with the tendency of the 2005 - early 2008 spark plugs to break on removal (this was fixed midway through the MY2008 production run). The earlier cars had more water leak issues around the cowl and cabin air filter.

Another common problem is the short lifespan of the alternator. My GT is on its third and the engine has only done 86k miles. I'm hoping the remanufactured OEM alternator I've had for the past three years will be the last I'll ever need.
